Haley Hughes

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I’m exploring my relationship to color, my sense of femininity, and my love of folk art and design. Raised in Arkansas, I have called The Carolinas home for the last thirteen years and am currently working out of my home studio in Asheville, North Carolina.

Inspired by the history of craft and design on both sides of my family, memory and nostalgia are key players in my narrative works. My artwork invites the viewer to reflect on inherited mythologies and internal dialogues surrounding personal identity. Favoring gouache and acrylic paint as my primary mediums, I create imaginative compositions on paper, wood panel, and canvas to share my inner world.
